But, both Wall Street and politicians have the same singular goal in mind. Each wants to manipulate your money and your emotions for their own betterment, not yours.

The key to manipulating you is that you’re a nice person… you live in a social norm where neighbors help each other out… workers pull together… contentment, even happiness, is a goal. It’s a world where a hug from your children or grandchildren, or a sly glance from your mate, is priceless.

Wall Street and politicians, on the other hand, exist in a market-based world that’s ruled monetary and emotional transactions. It’s a world where people are commodities. No one who plays that zero sum game – for money and votes – can ever have your best interest at heart.

So, does this mean it is irrational for me to market or advertise my newsletter in a way that is pretty much consistent with the modern-day financial publishing industry? After all, I am seeking to do a transaction with you. The answer is no. We are not playing a zero-sum game. We admit when we’re wrong. But, most importantly, we are not married to a single point of view that colors every decision we make. So, we believe there’s nothing wrong with commerce… as long as we remain open minded and deliver what we promise.
